Enjoy a spectacular Italian break ending in the glitz, glamour and excitement of the Monaco F1 Grand Prix.
You’ll fly from London to Milan where you’ll hop on the train to the stunning Lake Garda, the train will take only around an hour and your ticket brought locally will cost you around £20 return.
Desenzano del Garda is a resort town on the southern shore of Lake Garda, in northern Italy. The town is also known as the capital of Lake Garda and it is the starting point of many tours of the lake, from here you can easily reach the eastern coast of Lake Garda, towards Lazise, Bardolino, Garda, or Torri del Benaco.
Desenzano offers beaches, parks, a Roman Villa and shopping centres. At the very heart of the city is Piazza Malvezzi, just behind the Old Port built by the Venetians. From this square you can take Via Stretta Castello to the famous Castle of Desenzano, built in the 11th century.
You’ll spend three nights in the 4* Oliveto Hotel which is situated on the shores of Lake Garda, surrounded by age old Olive trees. This modern hotel is just a 10 minute walk into the town centre of Desenzano del Garda town centre. The hotel is just 300m from the lake, 1km from the ferries and just 2.5km from the train station.
The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool set in a sun terrace and an indoor spa area with saunas, two hydromassage pools, a Turkish bath and a relaxation area where a selection of herbal teas are available. On your last day in Lake Garda we suggest jumping back on the train to Milan after breakfast, as you’ll spend a night in the Italian fashion capital and this will give you time to explore. The countries financial hub also known for its high-end restaurants and shops. The Gothic Duomo di Milano cathedral and the Santa Maria delle Grazie convent, housing Leonardo da Vinci’s mural The Last Supper.
You’ll spend the night in the 4* Mediolanum Hotel. The Mediolanum is a modern art hotel with a, located just 5 minutes walking from the Milan Central train station. The Hotel is located in a lively area where it is possible to find the best of Italian food.
The hotel offers guests a buffet breakfast each morning and the colourful rooms include satellite TV, free Wi-Fi and a personalised air-conditioning system.
The following day things really start to ramp up as you board the Inter City Train to whisk to just over three hours south to the stunning seaside resort of Sanremo.
Sanremo has plenty of that Riviera-style grandeur, with beaches, green spaces, a Casino, ostentatious villas, atmospheric lanes of a medieval district La Pigna and the 12th-century San Siro Cathedral. Maybe best of all this sun soaked Mediterranean resort is just 40km along the coast from Monaco, making it an ideal base for Grand Prix weekend. The local train takes around an hour and will cost you less than £10 each way.
You will stay three nights in The 4* Grand Hotel Londra, the first hotel to have been built back in 1860. The hotel is historic and sophisticated, offering today’s guest a high-class of service and the hotel maintains the atmosphere of the Riviera of the beginning of the century.
The Londra benefits from an ideal situation on the seafront surrounded by plants and trees, a stone’s throw from the sandy beaches. The lively centre of the city with its Casino, the renowned boutiques and the Ariston theatre, famous for the Sanremo Italian Song Festival, are located just 900m along the Imperatrice walkway.

Then on the Sunday you’ve a grandstand seat for one of the most popular F1 races of the season, the famous Monaco Grand Prix. There is nowhere to watch Formula 1 quite like Monaco. Watch the cars climbing the Le Rocher hill, passing through the iconic Casino Square before the tunnel, and then onto the yacht-filled harbour and the swimming pool. It's a sight that has been thrilling fans for seven decades.
The barriers are so close, you really feel part of the action and with its Mediterranean backdrop, great weather, and the boats in the harbour Monaco has a unique appeal and for most, it’s a bucket list event.
